‘AAICHYA GAVAT MARATHIT BOL’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 19 January, 2024

TATG Films LLP’s Aaichya Gavat Marathit Bol (Marathi; UA) is the story of a young man who has to get married to a Maharashtrian girl if he is to inherit his father’s wealth.

On getting the news of his father’s demise, Samar (Omi Vaidya) comes to India from the USA where he lives with his mother. Samar is unable to speak proper Marathi because of his foreign connection. According to his father’s will, Samar will be able to inherit his father’s property if and only if he marries a cultured Maharashtrian girl within 30 days. His hunt for the girl begins. It is not easy but he finally meets a girl (Sanskruti Balgude) who is game for an engagement of convenience with Samar. What happens thereafter?

Amruta Hardikar and Omi Vaidya have written a story and screenplay, which lack novelty. One has seen such stories in several earlier films. Even the drama around the story is not so funny that the viewers would feel entertained. Many scenes are predictable and, therefore, lose in impact. The duo’s dialogues are okay but needed to be far more punch-packed.

Omi Vaidya does an average job as Samar. His anglicised Marathi gets irritating after a point of time. Sanskruti Balgude is so-so. Parth Bhalerao is adequate. Vidyadhar Joshi lends able support. Ila Bhate is nice. Uday Tikekar has his moments. Kishori Shahane Vij makes her presence felt. Abhishek Deshmukh performs quite well. Supriya Vinod is alright. Others provide ordinary support.

Omi Vaidya’s direction is not very promising. He has not been able to make a film which has the pure Maharashtrian flavour. Music (Avinash-Vishwajeet) is quite nice; the title song is good. Lyrics are okay. Rahul Thombare and Sanjeev Howaldar’s choreography is functional. Avinash-Vishwajeet’s background music is alright. Yogesh Koli’s camerawork is appropriate. Nitin Borkar’s art direction is fair. Editing (Mayur Hardas and Omi Vaidya) ought to have been sharper.

On the whole, Aaichya Gavat Marathit Bol is a dull fare.
