PRITISH NANDY NO MORE | 9 January, 2025

Film and web series producer, TV show host, poet and magazine editor Pritish Nandy passed away on 8th January in Bombay. He was 73. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer but died of a heart attack.

A prolific poet, Nandy edited The Illustrated Weekly Of India and also oversaw Filmfare and Femina. He was a popular columnist too.

Among the films Pritish Nandy produced are Kaante, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Bollywood Calling, Jhankar Beats, Chameli and Pyaar Ke Side Effects. He was also the producer of web series Four More Shots Please!. Much before corporates sprung up in Bollywood, Nandy started his film production company — Pritish Nandy Communications — in the early 1990s. He once hosted the Pritish Nandy Show on Doordarshan. He was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by Shiv Sena. He played a significant role in setting up People For Animals NGO with Maneka Gandhi.

Pritish Nandy was awarded the Padma Shri in 1977 for his literary contributions.
