TFCC GETS STRICT, TAKES TOUGH DECISIONS TO CUT PRODUCTION COSTS, STREAMLINE PRODUCTION | 4 September, 2022

No per-day payments will henceforth be made to artistes and technicians of the Telugu film industry. The names of OTT and satellite partners will not be allowed to be mentioned in the film titles and theatrical release publicity. These and some other tough decisions were taken by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce at a meeting held on 1st September in Hyderabad.

The press release of the TFCC claims that all the decisions were taken after extensive discussions/meetings with all the stakeholders and third parties related to the film industry. The decisions will come into force with effect from 10th September.

The system of making per-day payments to artistes and technicians will be done away with. All remunerations of artistes and technicians will include staff cost, local transport, local accommodation, special food, etc. The total remuneration amount will have to be finalised by the producer on the basis of the role/film. After that, the producer should not directly pay any amounts related to artistes/technicians except the agreed amount, that too, to the artiste/technician himself. To ensure that this is strictly adhered to, the TFCC has mandated that all agreements must be entered into with details of the fees, prior to commencement of shooting of the film. Furthermore, all agreements should be confirmed by the Chamber. The TFCC has also said that there should be strict observance of discipline and call sheet timings including maintaining of daily shooting reports.

The TFCC has also resolved not to allow placement of the names of OTT and satellite partners in the film titles and theatrical release publicity materials. It was reiterated that there shall be a minimum gap of 8 weeks between a film’s theatrical release and its debut on an OTT platform.
