B4U, a leading Bollywood TV channel, and Vikas Sahni have acquired the all-India distribution rights of Master (Tamil) (except South India) and its two dubbed versions — in Hindi and Telugu (except South India). The Hindi dubbed version is titled Vijay The Master. The film stars Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das and Andrea Jeremiah. It is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj for producers Xavier Britto (who is the uncle of Vijay) and Lalit Kumar of 7 Screen Studios.
Vikas plans to distribute more South dubbed films under Grand Master, the company which he had formed to acquire negative rights.
It may be mentioned here that the trailer of Master, which released in November, had won rave reviews not only down South but also among the Hindi-speaking audiences. Exhibitors outside the four Southern states have, therefore, been waiting with bated breath for the Hindi dubbed version of Master to release. Master was originally scheduled to release in April 2020 but the pandemic lockdown resulted in the postponement.
