‘DEAR MOLLY’ REVIEW | 1 July, 2022

Venus Worldwide Entertainment, Manmohan Shetty, Ganesh Jain and Praveen Nischol Productions’ Dear Molly (UA) is the story of the journey of a daughter in search of her father in Sweden. Molly (Gurbani Gill) sets out in search of her father whom she had last seen many years ago, when she was only five years old.

Gajendra Ahire’s story and screenplay move on a single track and are, therefore, quite boring. There are tender moments, of course, but the overall impact of the uni-dimensional story on the audience’s mind and heart is weak. Ahire’s dialogues are so-so.

Gurbani Gill does an average job as Molly. Alok Rajwade is alright as her father. Mrinmayee Godbole lends decent support as Molly’s mother. Ashwini Giri, Lia Boysen and Christer Holmgren lend routine support.

Gajendra Ahire’s direction is quite sensitive but it still fails to strike a chord in the viewer’s heart. Shailendra Barve’s background music is average. Phulwa Khamkar’s choreography on a music piece is impactful. Krishna Soren’s cinematography is of a good standard. Bodhaditya Bandhopadhyay’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Dear Molly will go almost completely unnoticed.
