SRK TO GET RS. 9 CRORE REFUND FROM REVENUE DEPT. | 30 January, 2025

The Maharashtra state revenue department has approved the refund of Rs. 9 crore to actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri, paid by the couple for the conversion of leasehold land to freehold.

In 2019, when the government had introduced a concessional scheme for the conversion of leasehold land to freehold, the couple applied under it for their 2,466 sq. metre plot at Bandra in Bombay. They even paid Rs. 27.50 crore for the conversion. The revenue department said, the land which was converted to freehold was less than what was estimated.

In 2022, Gauri Khan filed a petition before the Bombay suburban collector, seeking a refund of the surplus amount paid. The collector’s office, in turn, forwarded the petition to the state government which accepted that the amount paid was in excess and has now approved the refund.
