WAY CLEARED FOR RELEASE OF TELUGU FILM AFTER LOSING TWO DAYS OF GOOD BOX-OFFICE | 9 January, 2021

Even as cinemas are struggling to attract audiences wary of visiting enclosed spaces due to fear of the coronavirus, two fruitful box-office days were lost across North India due to an alleged dispute between the producer and director of Telugu Krack. The film was all set to open in single-screen cinemas and multiplexes on Friday, January 8. In the absence of major Hindi films, exhibitors are nowadays screening South films in the hope that people would return to the cinemas to view new content.

To the horror of the exhibitors, the KDM for the film was just not received on Friday and again on Saturday. On enquiry with the distributor, it turned out that this had come as a shock to him too as there was no dispute between him and the producer. At a multiplex like Starworld in Allahabad, monies had to be refunded to a total of 42 patrons in a single (4.30 p.m.) show today (9th). Even cinemas of the national multiplex chains had to cancel the shows at the eleventh hour and refund money to the patrons on Friday as well as Saturday (today).

Thankfully, the issue was resolved a little while back. The film will now release all over North India tomorrow (January 10).

During these COVID times, it is painful to see that patrons eager to watch Krack (Telugu) had to be sent home because of a dispute between the producer and director of the film, which took two days to settle.
