A starlet and three of her aides on March 10 abducted a 42-year-old web series maker in his own vehicle and drove him around Ghatkopar-Sion in Bombay before extorting more than Rs. 1.4 lakh from him. The police have begun investigations but no arrests have been made so far.
Earlier this month, an acquaintance told the victim, a resident of Kandivli in Bombay, that a starlet was keen to be cast in a web series. He invited her for an audition on March 26. The 24-year-old girl told him that she was willing to do bold scenes. She honey-trapped him and the two got intimate thereafter. Later, the girl’s boyfriend called up the web series maker and accused him of exploiting her and threatened to file rape charges. The maker tried to explain that it was a consensual act but the boyfriend was not convinced. The victim thereafter kept getting calls and finally agreed to meet the aspiring actress and her boyfriend on March 10. They and two other freinds allegedly roughed him up after entering his car and transferred money from his UPI-based payment application. They also made him withdraw Rs. 20,000 from an ATM and took that money away before alighting the car.
The victim complained to the Kandivli police on March 13. An FIR was registered and the case was transferred to the Pant Nagar police station on March 15.
