The Versova (Bombay) police on 27th June registered a case of rape, extortion and criminal intimidation against Aditya Pancholi on a complaint by Kangana Ranaut. The FIR was registered almost two months after Kangana’s sister, Rangoli, submitted a written complaint against the actor, accusing him of rape, wrongful confinement and assault on Kangana from 2004 to 2009.
Aditya denied the allegations and claimed that the FIR was in retaliation to a defamation case he and wife Zarina Wahab had filed against Kangana a month back. He explained that he had already filed a written complaint against Kangana, informing the police that she was planning to file a rape case against him.
Kangana, in her statement to the police on 27th, said that Pancholi had sexually assaulted her after spiking her drink at his house. He had also shot the sexual act on video. She added that he had demanded Rs. 1.5 crore from her after threatening to show the video clips of the sexual assault to her parents and friends. Kangana also said that he finally took Rs. 50 lakh from her for not making the objectionable clips public.
The FIR also mentioned that her physical and sexual abuse at the hands of Aditya Pancholi were pretty common when she was new in the film industry. She also claimed to have been often kept confined in his house and explained that she escaped many times by jumping off the first-floor window. Kangana also said, Aditya’s wife was aware of what was happening between them.
The hearing of the case will be held on 26th July. The cases against Aditya have been registered under IPC sections 323 (hurt), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 (rape), 384 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Pancholi and Zarina Wahab’s defamation cases pertain to Kangana’s public statements of abusive treatment by him, made during a television interview, and to Rangoli’s similar comments on social media.
