Three unit members of Tamil film Indian 2 died and some others sustained severe injuries when a crane came crashing down on the sets of the film at a studio at Nazarathpet in Tamil Nadu on the night of 19th February. The deceased were identified as Krishna (34 years), Madhu (29) and Chandran (50).
The victims were in a box-like structure atop the crane when the arm of the vehicle crashed. Kamal Haasan was shooting on the set when the accident took place. He helped transport the injured to a nearby hospital. He visited the families of the deceased the following day.
Kamal was only inches away from the place where the crane crashed and said, he was lucky to have survived. Kamal announced a financial aid of Rs. 1 crore to the families of those killed in the mishap. Lyca Productions, producers of the film, announced a compensation of Rs. 2 crore to the families of the deceased and to the injured.
