WADHAWANS NAMED IN SECOND CHARGESHEET IN YES BANK CASE | 16 July, 2020

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted the second chargesheet in the Yes Bank case before a special court on 13th July and named Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. (DHFL) promoters Kapil Wadhawan and his producer-brother, Dheeraj Wadhawan, alongwith Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor and his family members as also a chartered accountant. In the first chargesheet, the ED had named Rana Kapoor, his wife and their three daughters and companies associated with them of money laundering.

The Wadhawans have been accused of taking loans from Yes Bank and diverting the same to their group companies instead of utilising the same for the purpose the loans were taken. Yes Bank is alleged to have bent banking rules to accommodate the Wadhawan brothers in lieu of Rs. 600 crore kickback from DHFL. The second chargesheet focuses on Yes Bank’s Rs. 750 crore loan to Wadhawan brothers’ Belief Realtors Pvt. Ltd. and another loan of Rs. 3,700 crore to DHFL.
