CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur was charged with voluntarily causing hurt and wrongful restraint in an FIR registered by the Mohali police on June 7 for her alleged act of confronting and slapping actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport on June 6. The lady constable, whom the CISF suspended after the actress’ complaint in Delhi, received support from several individuals and organisations, some of who offered her monetary and legal assistance in case she were to be arrested or dismissed from service.
The CISF constable was booked under bailable sections 323 and 341 of the IPC. The Mohali police are scanning footage from CCTV cameras at the Chandigarh airport terminal to verify Kangana’s allegations. Reportedly, Kaur was apologetic about her “emotional outburst”. She is said to have confronted the actress over her remarks about women’s participation in the farmers’ agitation in 2021 on the Delhi border.
Among those who came out in support of the constable was 82-year-old farm activist Mohinder Kaur, who had previously filed a defamation suit against Kangana Ranaut for her remarks on the farmers’ protest.
