Television actress Preetika Chauhan, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on 25th October while accepting 99 grams of ganja from a drug peddler, was granted bail by the magistrate’s court on 29th October. The drug peddler, Faisal Yasin Shaikh, was also released on bail.
Bail was granted on the ground that the quantity of drugs seized from her falls under the definition of small quantity. The offence attracts a punishment of 1 year’s rigorous imprisonment or fine upto Rs. 10,000 or both. Each of them was asked to execute a personal bond of Rs. 15,000 and surety of like amount.
