Veteran and leading C.I. distributor Lalchand Janiani passed away this morning (19th April) at a hospital in Indore due to COVID-19. He had just recovered from COVID but suffered a cardiac arrest this morning. He was 84 years old and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter and their families. His sons, Deepak and Harish, were looking after the distribution business (Prem Films and Sunil Enterprises, Indore) alongwith him. His younger brother, Kishinchand Janiani, runs a distribution office for Rajasthan in Jaipur.
Lalchand ji had tested positive along with other family members around 20 days back. His condition deteriorated because of which he had to be hospitalised. He battled for life all these days before finally succumbing to the coronavirus this morning.
Lalchand Janiani was a respectable figure in the C.P.C.I. Rajasthan trade circles. His distribution concerns are considered to be epitomes of honesty and integrity. Lalchand Janiani started distribution business in 1966 and this was his 55th year in the business. Probably, he was the second-oldest distributor in India, who was still very active in the business. The oldest is Shankar Goenka of Assam territory. The two distribution concerns of Janiani have so far distributed more than 700 films in C.I. circuit, many of them landmark hits and blockbusters. Among the films distributed by Lalchand Janiani and his two firms were Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Bahubali, Bahubali 2: The Conclusion, Raja Hindustani, Gadar – Ek Prem Katha, Singham, The Dirty Picture, Aashiqui 2, Student Of The Year, Queen, Raaz, Masti, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Fukrey, Fukrey Returns, Sanju, Stree, Gully Boy, Kabir Singh, Mission Mangal, Golmaal 3, Housefull 4, Chhichhore, Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior, Phool Aur Patthar, Dus Lakh, Ek Phool Do Mali, Beimaan, Sanyasi, Raja Jaani, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Pratiggya, Patthar Aur Payal, Chor Machaye Shor, Kalicharan, Sargam, Kishen Kanhaiya, Coolie No. 1 and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
